Rock Climbing Empty Rock Climbing

I can no longer climb the rocks on Pokemon Omicron on mac. It just says this rock looks climbable twice, and then nothing. I remember being able to climb rocks in the beginning. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing, it was like a demo
now you have to defeat a gym leader (dont know who) to be able to use rock climb
