save error Empty save error

hello just downloaded the game version 1.3.20 for windows7 and im having problems saving. every time i use any type of saving method including auto save the game freezes. Then after 30 secs it crashes giving me a run time error any way to fix this please help. *note* i can play the game with no problem until i try to save
